glibby gloop gibby nibby nobby noobie la la la la low

Hey man, do you remember when the Dead, the real Grateful Dead would go on an hour and a half jam? Dark Star/St Stephen/The Eleven/Drums/Mind Left Body jam/St Stephen/Wharf Rat/The Other One/Midnight Hour. Well dancing bear with me because this post will be almost as long but not quite as enjoyable.

Good Morning Star Shine! I woke up this a.m. Half the battle was won. So for breakfast I had an Orval. And yes, that dot towards the bottom of the glass is the sun.

My assault on Belgian Beers continued with the following. I call this song Head Shots:

Belgian Lace: This my dear friends is what we in the business call Belgian Lace. No you will not see a long pair of legs in silk stockings.

Tossed: So I came up with a new term (so I believe) for getting intoxicated. High, drunk, stoned, stupid, loaded? No, tossed. So day to day to day to day we play the game. When the time comes for personal escape tossed is the answer. As in tossed from the game at the end of the first period.

This is my Mind Left Body jam. I call it "Went To Sleep Sober, Woke Up Buzzed". It was about 3:30 last nite/this a.m. that I was suddenly awoken to the fact that I was sober. How could this be? I had been hitting it hard from 3:30 in the afternoon! It is a strange phenomenon but this is the second time it has happened to me. How does one react at such a time?

I called the Sugar Cube: You guys already know him as one of my bosses. I call him sugar cube because he is an ultra square white boy. One of his nicknames is Buddy Holly. Kind of looks like him and is also a "musician" (hahahahahaha). He does has talent but what would have become of Picasso had he painted nothing more than bowls of fruit? He is learning to appreciate good beer and may one day have an out of body experience (beer induced) that will open a new window.

Ladies and Gentleman, Chris and Marsha: Okay, I am on a quest to find Chris and Marsha. On the album " Ladies and Gentleman The Grateful Dead" recorded at the Filmore East NYC April of '71 Pigpen was ON. Freakin ON. During LOVE LIGHT he hooked up Chris and Marsha via his rap. It would be nice to know if something came of it/them.

Patterns: It hit me today how fascinated I am with patterns. I guess that's why I have my plans/hopes of starting up my Strangle Hold Neck Wear line. I saw a few more interesting patterns today that I'd like to use. Then, bam, an epiphany. As I was drinking a St Bernardus, Pater 6, I thought "Hey, in central Europe Pater means Father! Pater/Pattern/DNA!" Oh freakin Eddy, I'd better lay off the tea. So, well here is a new pattern. This is the hood of my van.

Another German Invasion Of Belgium: Call it passive aggressive. Yes that is a German Pride t-shirt I'm wearing. Just a reaction to all of the brown/black/red/native pride. Two great things about Germany and one about Japan; They took on the world, and tho defeated it took the whole world to defeat them. Five years of "rehab" and they regained world power status.
So take notes mexicans and so called native americans (displaced asians). Grow up, develop your own people.

BOO yeah you heard me BOOO

Great moments in music BOOOOO history....Of course the most famous is Dylan going electric at the Newport Folk Fest. Then several years later after breaking his neck and coming back with a countrified sound, even hanging with JC (Jesus Christ comes later. This was Johnny Cash) He was booed again. Then when hitting his gospel stride (why did people freak? He recorded Gospel Plow on His first album! He has always been a Jesus man.) Its funny, during a press conference in '66he said something to the effect of " I wish I had enough money to go boo people". A wise man indeed.

The next greatest moment in booing is whatI have been watching. In 1982 Stevie Ray Vaughn play the Montreaux jazz festival. It was a hot set that any blues fan would walk in on and vibrate on the way out. Despite that he was viciously booed. Undaunted the band played on. Hit me Sly! So the second dvd in the set is from Montreaux 1985. As the band hits the stage one of the players says "three years ago tomorrow". Stevie hits the stage cooler than liquid nitrogen and proceeds to lay on a case of freezer burn such as has never been seen even to this day. Along wit hStevie you get to see Johnny Clyde Copeland,a blues great and father to that smoking hot broad Shameka. Get the dvd set and toss a few back and shake, rattle and roll.

As for Stevie...died too young. I got to see him a few times, the last of which was a couple months before he died. On that fateful day in August of 1990I quit my job and got smacked up. Oh well, live and learn.Just like music fans. No, good music fans.

Waking up with Ruth...and a A Little Sumpin Extra

Have you ever had one of those days when you wake up knowing its going to be a great day? Today I woke up feeling good knowing that it was to get even better. So this is how it went.

Woke up feeling like last nite. It was a good nite. Did my run around....looking for food in rectangular buildings. Decided to hit Jack in the Box. My order was delayed so they gave me a free Oreo shake(hey man I plan on drinking could you give me a burger instead?). Gift horse. Then I get home and make Ruth go topless. Hey man, thats what she was made for. After a couple go rounds with Ruth I deccided on a Little Sumpin Extra. Sated I felt it might be good to have an Old Guardian around.

Meanwhile the Dead... The Grateful Dead... not this loser obama promoting resiudal group living on Jerry's legacay...has been playing all day on my mp3. Yes modern technology meets the man that lived under the tree, in the van, and on the beach. Casey Jones off of Dicks Picks 30 is the song of the day. Keith nails away at the keys at double time and the rest of the band steadily yet slowy speeds up for a great climax....which bring me back to Ruth...Here she is. ( I acidentally deleted the picture of Lagunitas Brewings "A Little Sumpin Extra". Come on, you know I dont speak ghetto! I'm a German American after all .)
And here I am in my latest incarnation.... Getting older

GDBWW Continues

It has been another day of barley wines and the Grateful Deal. Hence the Grateful Dead Barley Wine Weekend. Speaking of grateful, thank you Veggie Jimmie for putting that salve on my virus. Yeah my laptop got infected. Better than my lap. No dancing please.

So as for last nites beers. Whoa what a tight race. Smelling and tasting as the beers were poured out of the refrigerator and then as they warmed caused many changes in the lead positions. The two constants were Dog Fish Head and Victory. Of the eight both remained as the bottom two. As for aromas of the top six, Horn Dog from Great Divide in CO won regarless of temp. 2nd and 3rd were Old Foghorn, the classic from Anchor Brewing in SF CA, and Back Burner from Southern Tier out of Lakewood NY.

When it came to taste it wasn't so clear cut. Even Stone's Old Guardian changed/got better as it warmed. Moylan's Old Blarney was up to Moylans high standards. Pikes Old Bawdy (the only 2007 of the batch, all others were 09) was a real dum dum. You know, like the bullet. Comes in clean and leaves you ripped. That is the first of the inseperable top four along with the Old Foghorn, Horn Dog, and moving to the front of the stove is the Back Burner. All four of these will do you right..and then some.

Now for the top Dead track of the weekend... (so far) Smokestack Lightnin' from 3/25/72 Academy of Music NYC.
