Yes it is a bit of an oxymoron. Most white dreadlocked idiots you see are in college. They still have a chance to become educated and see how ridiculous they look. Many will wear Bob Marley t-shirts and speak of legalizing marijuana. That alone should tell you to ignore them. Peter Tosh was the pundit of pot. He was the political warrior where as Marley was more inclined to the pop side, both bringing in their spiritual theosophy. The even greater irony is that all these kids with the dreads and Marley shirts disclaim religion. Their religion is disclaiming religion...and postponing their education. I suppose that is easy when your parents are paying your way. Quite dreadful indeed!
Sadly now even reggae is dead, murdered by hip hop, rap, and cocaine (and white boys with dreadlocks) . I say keep listening to Tosh,Marley, and Cliff, but also seek out others of the 70's and 80's. The early Wailing Souls are wonderfully simplistic, but an album I put out to you is Culture "LION ROCK". Great reggae with a strong spiritual message.
Remember, when you say you hate religion your religion becomes hate. Even atheist believe in something or else there wouldn't be "theist" in their title. I believe in disbelief? Yes sir you do. I believe in forgive and forget.

your point is quite obvious. there is a great herd mentality in the us and world wide general, but what do you suggest to inspire the kids not to follow these trends?
First of all it takes strong parenting, after that it falls onto the individuals. (supposed)No twitter, facebook, or even TV (most) for that matter. Raise them on classical music and they wont drown in the stream of pop.
Why are you asking me? I dont have kids.
Ah, there is the answer. Most people having children shouldn't. WAKE UP CALL FOR MEXICO.
