Another trip in the way back machine

I suppose yesterday really isn't all that way back, but yesterday I went for a stroll in my new surroundings. Being a hot and sunny day I decided to stop in at a place I have seen every day since I got here in Saint George. It is called Nielsen's frozen custard. Once inside it was if you had stepped back in time to the late 50's early 60's. Red vinyl booths, white laminate tables, and those good old stainless napkin dispensers. Aside from that the decor was lacking, but the feel was there. I ordered myself a turtle sundae and drifted back to childhood.

Every now and then on a lazy summer evening (and winter too I suppose) my mom or dad would pipe up with "Who wants a sundae?". Instead of going a block away to Boy Blue, or six blocks away to Baskin Robbins we would take the four mile drive to Gillies frozen custard stand (We went even further for pizza). I would usually have a turtle, my oldest sister the fudge mallow mint, my mom would have a zombie, and I'm sure all the others had their favorites. I'll have to make more visits to Nielsen's, once I get a job that is, and help them fill their walls with nostalgic artifacts while I fill my belly with cold goodness.

Scotch Jimmy Treat for me and I think Stan too! Strawanna for Karen. A Razanna for Dad. It's always great to have a good ice cream/custard place to go to. Boy, I wish Gillies wasn't so far away.
